Burpees: Love Them or Hate Them?

Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? Scared of them? No matter how you feel about them, you are likely to come across them in a group fitness class and knowing how to access them with a variation that suits YOUR body and Your needs can empower you to feel comfortable and confident in any class you take! So give this a save for future reference and share with your friends!

I love burpees because they are a full body movement integrating core strength, mobility, power, and endurance, but not everybody feels great doing them “full out” and that’s ok!

Variations of movements, like burpees, gives us options to explore how movements feel for us and to facilitate working towards gaining strength, mobility, endurance, when that is an option for us and our bodies!

There lies this stigma in the fitness world that modifications are something to be ashamed of or embarrassed by, but I look at variations as opportunities to connect with what our bodies ARE capable of, not what we are incapable of in that moment.

What variation feels good for you today or do you want to try? What has your experience been in classes or coaching sessions when the movement expectation didn’t feel great? Or, when it does? Do you need other ideas for variations of the burpee then shown here? Let’s discuss in the comments!

If you want more support and guidance with strength training, we have a special program just for you! This first cohort of the Fitness Academy for Beginners starts October 18th and we can’t wait to have you join us!
